26.2

Running a marathon is an extremely difficult task. It requires an incredible amount of training and discipline. Marathon runners are some of the most physically fit athletes in the world. In God’s word, walking with Jesus is compared to running a race. In this way, our life is like a marathon. As young men and women we have just crossed the starting line of a lifelong race of following Jesus. We must learn how to train so that we can run the race effectively. We must learn to become strong in God’s word and through his power, so that when we have finished the full 26.2, we will have run our race well.

Edge Parent Update – 3-12-11

OUT OF FOCUS
This is our last week in this series. God is big – like really big. There are so many parts of him that are really hard to understand. Because of this we often misunderstand things about God. We are just human beings, trying to comprehend an infinite, all-powerful God. This causes us to only see part of the picture when we think about God. We don’t see him clearly. We see him out of focus. This week, we are going to continue to look at some things about God that we see out of focus and we are going to bring them back into focus. We will see them clearly so that we can see God clearly – and worship him because of it.

SPRING BREAK
Next Wednesday, March 21st, there will be NO EDGE due to Hudson schools being on Spring Break. The church goes by Hudson schools for any cancellations even though we have students from many school districts. Please mark your calendars.

DOOR #2
Door #2 Studio will be open this Thursday afternoon. Door #2 meets at 4510 Stow Road, Stow from 3-5:30 pm. We are looking for drivers to help students get from school to Door #2 each week. If your student is interested in going to Door #2 and you could take a few more students with you, would you please let Lisa Olson know by emailing her at lisa.olson@ccchapel.com? Parents are responsible for picking up their own students when Door #2 is over.

SPRING THING
Our Spring Thing retreat is coming up soon! Please mark your calendars for April 27-29th. We will be at Camp Carl and will enjoy 2 full days and nights of fun, games, teaching, Door #2 art and much more. Please watch future Parent Updates for more info on how to register your son or daughter online soon.

Edge Parent Update – 2/7/12

Here are the updates for this week…

MISSION TRIP PARENT INFO
If anyone was unable to attend the information meetings about the mission trips being offered this summer, please see the attachment to this email. Applications are due by Wednesday, February 29th.

NO WEDNESDAY EDGE
This is the second week of The Edge Games. We resume the competitions on Friday, Feb. 10th. We will not have Edge on Wednesday night because of the Edge Games. We will not have Edge the next Wednesday as well.

EDGE GAMES VIII
The Edge Games is the perfect chance for Edge students to show Christ to their friends. Edge students will be assigned to a country team, and their job is to fill that team up with their friends, and compete in team competitions, appealing to all kinds, for the first 3 Fridays in February. They compete to have their team and their name etched into the Edge Games torch. That’s secondary to the chance to see their friends experience the life changing love of Christ. There will be competitions for the athletic, the artistic, the intelligent, the talented, and the daring. This is an event that no middle school student in the area will want to miss.
At the Edge Games, we are challenging students to ask big life questions that lead to the gospel. We’ve created 3 videos that we are playing over the 3 weeks of the Edge Games that help them think about these questions. I thought, as parents, that you might be interested to see these videos. Hopefully, in watching them, you can have some great conversations with your child and/or their friends. Please CLICK HERE to see this past week’s video.

DOOR #2
Door #2 Studio will be open this Thursday afternoon. Door #2 meets at 4510 Stow Road, Stow from 3-5:30 pm.

NEW OPPORTUNITY
I want to tell you about a great opportunity for our students to be involved in a new part of our church family. Our church is going to begin a Christian library for the youths at the our new venue at the Cuyahoga Hills Youth Detention Center. We are collecting gently used Christian books and Bibles. If any students wish to donate books, they can be dropped off at the church office marked “Prison Venue Library – local outreach”. What a great way to serve other students that we are reaching out to as a church family! Please scour your bookshelves at home or feel free to purchase a couple of new books/Bibles for the teens.

Trip Purpose: This trip gives you as a Mom the ideal opportunity to welcome your 8th grade daughter into womanhood in a godly manner. Everything we do on the trip and the set-up of the trip itself is intentionally designed to put you in situations where you will be able to challenge, give advice, and encourage your daughter to be a woman after God’s own heart. It also gives you a chance to bond with other mothers as well as Lisa, Louisa (both Edge Ministry) and Darlene Hess (Porch Ministry), the women who have been and will be leading your daughters in ministry at CCC.

Dates: March 17th and 18th
Cost: $90 per person ($180 per Mother-Daughter). This cost includes Hotel (sharing a Queen bed with your daughter (note: there will be another mother and daughter pair in your room) breakfast at the hotel, the meeting room we will use at the hotel, and ticket to the Revolve tour (Saturday 12-7pm). This price does not include food (1 lunch, 1 dinner) and travel (we plan to carpool for travel).

Revolve Tour: We are excited that this trip will include going to the Revolve Tour. The Revolve Tour began in 2005 as a response to Mothers who had visited Women of Faith events and now wanted something for their daughters. The result is a one-of-a-kind inspirational event for 6th– to 12th–grade girls that combines award-winning bands and speakers with real, relevant messages in a high-energy event.
